My Journey
Hi beautiful, I'm Megan Serafin, the heart and soul behind Bee In A Tree Yoga. I'm a 200RYT (200-hour registered yoga teacher) and a certified breathwork and meditation facilitator.

My journey into the amazing world of yoga and breathwork began in 2017, when I was recovering from knee surgery and yoga was just exercise to build my strength back up. As I continued to go to yoga classes I started to realize the benefits were more than just physical but were emotional and mental.

Then in June 2021 I went on a weekend yoga retreat in Maine (pretty much Canada). It was during this retreat that the true power of yoga (and later I realize breathwork too) was shown to me. During one of the Kundalini yoga sessions, something inside me shattered and I felt pure bliss. From then on, yoga became more than just exercise.

I hopped around to different studios trying to find one that felt like home. I finally found it, thankfully right up the street from where I live. Don't ask me how I never realized it was there before, but I think I found it right when I needed to find it.

After a few months of going there, they announced they had a few spots left in their Yoga Teacher Training program. I was on the fence; at the time I didn't want to become a yoga teacher but wanted to deepen my practice. I went back and forth, asked a bunch of people if I should do it, but couldn't decide.
Until I was practicing yoga in my yard one afternoon thinking about taking the training or not, I saw a four-leaf clover right at the top of my mat. That was my sign that I needed to join that program.

And I'm so glad I did!
Yoga teacher training was amazing. I became part of a beautiful community, and I developed a love for teaching yoga - who knew that would happen!
However, half-way through the program I fell into a dark hole of depression. None of my usual tools helped, not even yoga.
Thankfully one of the program mentors introduced us to breathwork and its healing powers. I asked her for help and she took me on as a 1:1 client.
She used breathwork and meditation to help me heal from past traumas, shed layers of myself that no longer serve me, break free of my depression, and connect with my true authentic self.
That journey I went through was utterly life changing and I knew I needed to help others like she helped me. That's why I became a certified breathwork and mediation facilitator.

Other things about me that I'd like you to know are that I'm happily married to the love of my life, DJ. We have a loveable hound named Hope. She always needs to lay between DJ and I as she deserves all the attention.

I'm a beekeeper! I've been keeping honeybees since 2022. Now the name, Bee In A Tree Yoga, makes more sense right?! Being a beekeeper isn't just about having delicious honey, but helping honeybees thrive and doing what I can to help this planet we call home.

What I'll end with is that guiding people on a journey of healing, self-acceptance, and uncovering their true authentic self is what brings me pure joy and happiness. I'm truly honored to guide you on your journey to unleash the power within yourself.
